Junk is the best to stock things like
old TVs have flyback coils caps, transistors and resistors maybe some rotary pots etc. radios often have coils and tuning cans, computers usually have a button cell battery holder and some really nice heat sinks and fans and a useful power supply, computer monitors often have wonderful components like 555 timers and other useful things, flat screens have inverter boards to power neon lights and magnifiers etc, the list goes on all these things contain a vast range of components if you have the patience to remove the components you need form them or have the storage space for them. |

2 | Another noob question.
My LCD TV just went all smokey on me - taking out the power supply, I found a crispy capacitor. There are allegedly 2 identical CAPs on the high voltage side of the transformer and the only text I can see on the good one (the bad one being crispy to the point of crumbling) "27J 6KV"
Is this a 2uF (+-5%) 6000V capacitor? If so, anyone know where I can get such a beast in the UK?
