Coils

As we know from earlier pages, electron moving through a wire causes an electromagnetic field around the wire. If we wrap the wire in a coil then that intensifies the magnetic field and that magnetic field can be put to many uses.

Coils have some important properties to note. They resist rapid changes in the current flow. Steady current pass through freely.

coil signals

Magnetic fields, or rather changing magnetic fields, can induce a current to flow. So current from one coil creating a magnetic field that makes current flow in another coil.

Inductors will draw high freqs to them, taking them away from caps

I have used coils of wire on Crossover Networks for speakers. On these circuts they are called inductors and are used in some way to eliminate high frequency sounds. How does this happen
